Beginner / Intermediate Throwing Class - Tuesdays (Session 1)

This five-week class introduces the basic concepts of throwing clay on the potters wheel. Each week we will explore the techniques required to take a piece from start to finish. Instruction will include wedging, centering clay on the wheel, trimming, surface decoration, glazing and the firing process. Open studio time is included in the fee, so students may practice what they learn in class.

Class Basics

  • You must be at least 18 to enroll in this class.

  • No experience is necessary.

  • Each class meets for 2.5 hours.

  • Included in your enrollment fee: 25 pounds of clay, throwing bucket, glazes and firing.

  • You will need a basic pottery tool kit. These are available for purchase at the studio the first session of your class or may be purchased independently.

  • A two-week period after the session ends is included in the cost of your enrollment to allow for the completion of any unfinished projects.

  • Extensions to class sessions may be purchased. See a studio representative for more information.

General Class Information

  • Firing for up to 25 pounds of clay is included in the cost of your enrollment. More clay may be purchased at current studio prices. Additional firing costs will be assessed at current studio prices.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All cancelled session registrations will be assessed a $35 processing fee. If you fail to cancel your enrollment less than 7 days before the start of your session begins, your class fee is non-refundable. If you attend a class and elect to drop the class, you class fee will NOT be refunded for any reason except a documented medical emergency. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
